On-roof installations is by far the most common type of solar installation in Switzerland to date. It’s cost effective and provides benefits for performance through ventilation around the back of the panels. There are essentially two types of on-roof solar systems: for sloped roofs and for flat roofs.

Sloped roofs could have a number of different materials such as tiles, Eternit, tin, and some other, less common types. Almost all roofs, regardless of rooftop material, can serve as a base for a solar system. The same can be said for flat roofs. These also have some different types of coverage such as moss/grass, gravel, and tin, which all serve as good surfaces for a solar system.

Regardless of which type of roof you have, the on-roof solar system always have the same components: solar panels, inverter, mounting system, and connections to the house electric distribution system.
